Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) captain Sanju Samson has been fined 30 per cent of his match fees for “showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision” during the clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday evening.
Samson’s impressive innings of 86 runs off 46 balls was abruptly cut short by a spectacular catch by Shai Hope at long-on boundary. Hope was mere millimeters from the boundary rope off Mukesh, in a dramatic turn of events.
It seemed as though Hope had effectively secured the ball, with multiple replays corroborating this assertion. However, a different perspective raised some skepticism regarding the validity of the catch. Despite this ambiguity, the third umpire ultimately relied on the initial two replays and ruled Samson out.

The RR captain appeared dissatisfied with the rapid decision-making and proceeded towards the dugout. Nevertheless, he subsequently changed direction and went back to engage in discussions with the umpires.
What the BCCI said
“Samson committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction,” the BCCI/IPL statement read.
“For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” it added.
