India’s elite K9 units to provide security in Paris 2024

The upcoming Paris Olympic Games in France, scheduled to kick-off on July 26, will be supported by 10 Indian K9 teams, comprised of central armed police force (CAPFs) and special commando force dogs, to enhance security measures.

The specially trained security dogs, such as the five-year-old CRPF canine named Vast and the three-year-old Denby, will play a crucial role in providing counter-terrorist and anti-sabotage security coverage at multiple venues during the Paris Olympics.

The responsibilities of the Indian K9 teams encompass conducting detection and surveillance tasks at multiple locations designated to accommodate sporting events throughout the duration of the Olympics. The selection of the 10 canines and their handlers has been sourced from esteemed CAPFs such as the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force, National Security Guard (NSG), and the Assam Rifles.
