Chennaiyin FC has announced the appointment of former India midfielder Noel Wilson as the assistant coach for their first team for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
The 44-year-old individual from Bengaluru has been reunited with head coach Owen Coyle. This dynamic coaching duo has previously collaborated at Jamshedpur FC, leading the team to its inaugural ISL League Winners’ Shield in 2022. Wilson has taken over the position previously held by Raman Vijayan.

What Wilson said on the signing
“It’s always an honour and privilege to be a part of Chennaiyin FC. A club which has won 2 ISL Championships and other achievements. I am looking forward to working with Chennaiyin FC to achieve the goal of the club to win games and trophies,” an elated Wilson said after joining the Marina Machans.
Wilson has demonstrated strong leadership skills as the head coach of Jamshedpur FC’s reserve team, achieving notable successes in the second division of the I-League and various tournaments. Additionally, he has held the position of head coach at South United FC and Ozone FC.

Wilson brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Chennaiyin coaching team, thanks to his impressive history and extensive experience as both a player and coach.

In his capacity as a player, Wilson has had the honor of representing the Blue Tigers on multiple occasions and was a key member of the Indian team that secured the bronze medal at the 1999 South Asian Games. His illustrious career has also seen him compete for esteemed clubs such as Mohun Bagan, Churchill Brothers, and Mohammedan SC.
